The Artisans Center of Virginia has pioneered a retail alliance program that combines the power of ACV’s network of Virginia artisan entrepreneurs with the marketing power of the private retail sector. ACV’s mission of bringing economic opportunity to Virginia artisans while offering a sustainable financing model that combines ACV’s networking and jurying strengths with the retail and marketing reach of the private sector is realized through these alliance opportunities.
Let us help you find the artists that will make a difference to your market! (One recent ACV retail partner realized an immediate 10% increase in their artisan sales and with an addition growth to 15% as they went into the second year).
AFFILIATES
Join ACV as an Affliiate Member to align your business with the ever-expanding Craft Industry in Virginia and become a visible presence through ACV’s Craft Registry. In addition to membership benefits all affiliteas receive special acknowledgment in applicable program materials and online, a certificate of participation that aligns your business with ACV’s statewide brand and use of ACV’s Event calendar for broadcasting craft related events and activities.

RETAIL ALLIANCE PARTNERSHIPS
Through a partnership agreement that covers ACV’s administrative costs and provides a profit-sharing incentive, the Artisans Center serves as the contact point for all artisan work, will assist with exhibitions within your store, and ensures a consistently high quality of craft products by only representing artists that have achieved the highest level of juried distinction in the state of Virginia.
Retailer Investment:
- An initial set-up contribution to launch program
- Additional contributions required per elective exhibition, event, campaign, etc facilitation
- Retailer donates 10% of gross sales back to the ACV on a quarterly schedule
ACV Administrative Support:
• Provide established standards and specifications that organize and define specific responsibilities between the retailer, ACV & the participating artisans.
• Provide template sales agreement document outlining roles & rules between the artisan and the retailer.
• Assess retailer’s needs and with them, identify corresponding artisan works based on potential salability from ACV Craft Registry of artisans
• Make contact with retailer’s selected ACV juried artists and complete introduction to retailer.
o “Complete” being defined as facilitating agreement with the artisan for delivery of works into the retail shop
o Facilitate, within its control, that the program to build strong relationships between artisan and retailer.
• Facilitate the commission agreement.
• Quarterly “check-in” reviews of retailer’s artisan program.
ACV Branding & Marketing Support:
• Provide link to retailer’s site on the retail page of the ACV website for the term of the agreement
• Limited access through ACV email list-serve
• Allow leverage of the ACV name in retailer’s marketing materials, including:
o Signage
o Press releases
o Web presence Use of online Craft Registry event calendar
Optional Fee-Based Services Available:
• Discounted advertising rates with select media outlets due to ACV bulk purchasing power
• Co-operative marketing opportunities that may include:
o Co-branded marketing materials (shared costs may apply)
o Media promotions (shared costs may apply)
