The Artisans Center of Virginia Welcomes Craft Industry Partners

The artisan industry in Virginia is one of the state’s greatest untapped economic assets. Skilled craftsmen with expertise in design, manufacturing techniques and tradesmanship, form the backbone of the creative economy in many communities across the Commonwealth. While their handmade work is itself marketable as a unique Virginia product, artisan locations in small rural to bustling urban communities provide a tremendous and largely underutilized opportunity for regional tourism marketing and economic growth.

With the current challenges facing our economy, ACV is committed to diligent collaboration of marketing efforts to spread the message that craft creates community. ACV’s marketing slogan, “Create Craft, Create Community,” (adopted in 2006), has taken on new meaning as we work on a grassroots level developing artisan initiatives that will have positive and sustainable impacts on the local communities.  Initiatives such as the ACV Artisan Trail Network and ACV Retail Alliance Program are designed to create jobs, increase revenues and establish localities as inviting tourism destinations.

Lacking, however, is a coordinated effort to leverage that talent into a recognized and established industry that is branded, promoted, and celebrated as a valuable Virginia commodity. Now is a great time to become a part of Virginia’s growing artisan industry as ACV works to elevate visibility, celebrate quality craftsmanship , and extol the attributes and stories of Virginia artisans to the benefit of communities throughout the Commonwealth.

Please commit today to entering into partnership with ACV as we extend our message in the market place.  Together we can make Virginia’s craft industry a visible mainstay that attracts new visitors to our communities and supports the growing entrepreneurship efforts of Virginia’s artisans.

This ACV Brand Features Usage Guide will enable you to spread the word about your involvement with Virginia artisans.  Whether as a member or sponsoring organization, let’s work together to capitalize for the good of the whole on the tremendous cultural vitality that Virginia’s artisan community offers!
