Artist Statement:

Love for my friends of the four-legged woolly variety - everything starts there for me. A fascination with wool and immersion in wool’s creative pallet are the natural results. Beginning with the acquisition of my first (but not my last) spinning wheel in 1993, my adventure and love affair with natural fiber has led me down paths I never could have imagined. The newfound ability to spin back then dictated that sheep would be in my future. And so, the ten most wonderful sheep in the world entered my life and changed it for the better. Years of learning about being a shepherdess, shearing, fiber preparation, and pondering what to do with all of that wool has brought me to today. It is my guess that my future with wool will continue to take additional surprising turns. Predicting where the focus of my studio will be in five years is a delightful mystery. The constants will remain though, of that I am sure. And the chief constants are my history as a shepherdess, my enduring and lifelong love for my sheep and my dedication to wool as my chosen medium.
