Artist Statement:
I started designing 45 years ago making Barbie clothes. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, I moved on to ladies' loungewear. My first quilt was in the 1970s, and after a class at the John C. Campbell Folk School in 2003 I began designing crib-sized art quilts. I believe rainbow-colored batiks really come alive with black or deep blue for contrast, and I add movement to my designs with curved lines and flowing free-motion stitching. Sometimes I modify a traditional design with a new twist in color, and at other times I use the rainbow colors just to 'make a picture'. I hope all who view my quilts, enjoy my ideas and are drawn into my world of color.
