Artist Statement:
In the late 1980’s my passion for the women’s movement began to drive my expression in art and craft. I began sculpting wood; now I carve wax and cast in mostly silver. The collection reflects my fascination and study of multi-cultural symbols and archetypes. Over a hundred pendants/small sculptures have been birthed in my Nelson County studio. Because the images were inspired by life’s challenges, triumphs and transitions, they often evoke emotional responses from viewers, wearers, and givers. Each design has its own name and a 'poem' that describes its essence.
These days I enjoy hearing others use words such as talisman, amulet, medallion, totem and charm to describe the pendants.
