Artist Statement:
For more than twenty years I have been exploring woven three-dimensional forms using a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials. I prefer bias plaiting with either copper or hand painted watercolor paper. The copper naturally poses challenges to the fingertips not experienced with more traditional weaving materials. It does, however, offer rewarding sculptural and surface treatment possibilities. While traditional basketry techniques are used in my work, my creations are far from traditional and are more sculptural than functional forms.
