Jury Point System

    Four Juror Panel

    Design 7 pts.

    Craftsmanship 7 pts.

    Marketability 7 pts.

    Total 21 pts

    21 pts. X 4 jurors = 84

    Jury Award Levels

Juried Virginia Artisan – must receive a minimum of 52 out of a possible 84 points

Professional Distinction – must receive a minimum of 68 out of a possible 84 points

Rejection letters will include a numerical summary of the points received and juror comments as feedback for artisans who are interested in furthering the development of their craft. Acceptance letters will include the above-mentioned items and a copy of the membership application form.  Once constructive changes have been made, the artisan may re-submit their application to the jury for review at no additional charge within one calendar year from the date of their initial jury submission’s Image Jury deadline.

    Jury Point System

In an effort to be as fair as possible in the jury process, ACV has implemented a point system using a grading scale rubric. Each artisan’s work will be measured against the following criteria:

Design – Originality, creativity and application of sound design principles.

Craftsmanship – Objects are evaluated for skill level, presentation, durability, and integrity of design.

Marketability – The panel will consider price points, presentation and sales potential (note: this category is specifically relevant for review to receive the “professional” distinction).

Panel members change with each object jury, but generally consist of 1 staff member, 1 ACV standards committee member, and 2 craft professionals and/or gallery owners from outside the organization.
